The Private Equity Club exists to give University of Kentucky students a real understanding of how private equity works and a path into the industry.

Most students hear about private equity long before they understand what it actually is. Our meetings cover the fundamentals that classes do not: how funds are structured, how investors find companies to buy and evaluate them before a deal, how a leveraged buyout is modeled, and how value is created after an acquisition.

We also connect members directly with people doing the work. Through speaker events, alumni outreach, and site visits to firms across Kentucky and the surrounding region, members get access to professionals at firms that hire from UK.

No prior finance coursework, major, or experience is required. The club is open to any UK student who wants to learn, whether you are exploring the industry for the first time or already recruiting for it.

What We Do

Industry Speakers

Events each semester featuring professionals from private equity and investment banking, including University of Kentucky alumni. Topics span deal sourcing, value creation, the path into the industry, and career advice.

Training

Workshops covering financial statement analysis, valuation, and LBO modeling. Members build models in Excel and work through cases based on real transactions, developing the technical foundation expected in interviews.

Recruiting

Resources for members pursuing careers in private equity and investment banking, including resume reviews, networking guidance, and technical interview preparation. Members learn how recruiting works on both the sell side and the buy side.
